My Darlings, Click on the divine for a chance to win copies of SP Emma Bowd’s ‘The Shoe Princess’s Guide to the Galaxy’ and ‘A Passion for Shoes’! Not to mention all the snippets of fashion news and views to be enjoyed on SP Catherine Harry’s gorgeous site! (I’m constantly amazed by the lovely creatures SP Emma Bowd brings to my salon from her forays out of her darkened writer’s cave!)

Fingers and toes crossed…I very much look forward to the winning ‘shoe story’! xx

Shoe Stopper

ShoestoppersBonjour My Darlings

I’m in holiday mode at the moment and enjoying the fruit of one very clever Shoe Princess’s labours…feast your eyes on the utterly divine and incredibly well-crafted Shoe Stoppers!  The brainchild of SP Jane Brown who, literally, came up with the idea for the lovely little pieces of gorgeousness one evening over a glass of red.  (I’m privy to all the inside goss thanks to SP Emma Bowd’s jaunts at the Australian Shoe Fair!)

I can also vouch that they work a treat…as SP Emma Bowd craftily bartered a copy of her novel The Shoe Princess’s Guide to the Galaxy for the black and white polka dot stiletto Shoe Stopper!  (They are quite weighty and come in a cute satin-lined gift box)

The perfect gift exchange from one Shoe Princess to another! xx

My darlings, mountains of thanks to the divine Beck and her staff at Angus & Robertson, Eastland, for such a gorgeous reception at SP Emma Bowd’s book-signing today!  Indeed, may I award Beck a special Shoe Princess Commendation for preparing such a pretty book display – resplendent with her very own heels and even a matching handbag (a gift from her adorable boyfriend…top marks Shoe Prince!!).  With more than its fair share of Shoe Princesses to chat to, I had a simply lovely morning amongst kindred spirits. xx

Stepping Out – Book ‘Do’ with a Difference

My darling Shoe Princesses

Never have I been more proud to call myself a Shoe PrincessOh, what a night!

SP Emma Bowd joined 120 fellow Shoe Princesses in a shoe shop (yes, the divine Cecci Shoes is a very big shoe shop!) for an evening of fine finger food, wine and much shoe- and book-talk… and shopping!

Most importantly, not only did my SPs kick-up-their-heels, but they were also able to raise funds for the invaluable work of the Ardoch Youth Foundation.  Truly gratifying and an absolutely heavenly atmosphere.

A huge amount of fun was had with the drawing of Raffles from our gorgeous donors; as well as SP Shoe Quizzes, testing the keenest shoe-knowledge for Endota Day Spa Brighton deluxe pedicure vouchers!

Bayside Libraries and Kidna Books ensured that the evening wasn’t completely overrun by shoes and that SP Emma Bowd did her best to enlighten and entertain authors-in-the-making, as well as sign copies of her novel The Shoe Princess’s Guide to the Galaxy.

SP Emma Bowd and I would like to sincerely thank Mandy Burns, CEO of the Ardoch Youth Foundation for her inspiring and heartwarming talk – there was not a dry eye in the house!  And I’m sure Mandy will be receiving assistance in many guises from my Shoe Princesses to help make education a reality for the students and families in her support networks.  Bravo Shoe Princesses! xx

SP Loves…

shoe princess cover - high resIn the first of my discoveries from the Australian Shoe Fair, I’m delighted to report to the legion of SPs not blessed with the twig-like calves of a supermodel, a manufacturer that listens to your heartfelt sighs…yes, wide-calf boots that have more than a dash of fashion-cred and road-tested to boot:  Wide Calf Boots

Please do share your well kept secrets if you know of anyone else that caters for large calves or perhaps wide feet (a regular bugbear amongst SPs)…xx

Tripping the Light Fantastic

Australian Shoe FairGreetings, my darling Shoe Princesses from the hallowed halls of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and the Australian Shoe Fair (ASF).

…where and how does one begin…

Firstly, what an honour and truly fascinating experience it has been for a shoe-consumer (extraordinaire!) like myself, to take a behind-the-scenes peek at the life-cycle of a shoe.

I’ve been overwhelmed by the many different players in this significant production which I’ve had the enormous fortune to meet, including:  importers, exporters, inventors, designers, manufacturers, captains of industry, family businesses, one-person enterprises, retailers (of all shapes and sizes), shoe-making teachers, stylists, web-based companies, bloggers, publishers, journalists, event organisers, publicists, image consultants, film-makers and philosophers (truly!).

If the national grid could harness the energy at the ASF, Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions would be halved in one fell swoop.

In short…completely and utterly INSPIRING.

Oceans of thanks to the divine Hailey and Anna from Angus & Robertson for selling The Shoe Princess’s Guide to the Galaxy and A Passion for Shoes to my adoring fans, too!

Over the coming weeks and months I will have great pleasure in introducing you to some of the shoe-related companies and products that have caught my eye at the ASF.  Until then, au revoir, my darlings, and remember,
